TBY Yoga is an in-person yoga studio in Mundelein, IL with an online yoga platform called 'TBY On-Demand'.


We offer straight up alignment-based yoga classes, videos, and events for anybody who wants to slow down, turn inward, relieve stress, and feel better in body and mind.

Julia Jonson

Co-Founder, Creative Director, Yoga Teacher, E-RYT 500®, YACEP®

Growing up, Julia experienced migraine headaches and chronic back pain. It wasn’t until she found yoga in college and started deepening her practice that she found relief from many of her symptoms. Today, Julia is passionate about sharing yoga in a therapeutic way, for people experiencing physical pain, illness, or simply just want to feel better in their mind and body.

Andrew Gurvey

Co-Founder, Yoga Teacher, Engineer

Andrew walked into his first yoga class in 2005 at a time when he was overweight, depressed, and hopeless about life. He quickly started feeling better in his body and developing self confidence–he was hooked! After a few years of practice and completing his teacher training in 2009, he noticed that the more he slowed down, the more he realized there is so much more to the practice than just the physical exercise.

Carole Edmark

Yoga Teacher

Carole began practicing yoga in her mid-50s after spending decades developing tight hamstrings and hip flexors. She initially added yoga to her exercise regime to gain flexibility and calm her type A personality… but now the practice means so much more to her.

Susan Zelmanski Finerty

Yoga Teacher

Susan began practicing yoga in 2002, and it has been core to her lifestyle since 2013. She completed her 200-hour yoga teacher certification under TBY Co-Founder, Julia Jonson, and has additional studies in trauma bodywork, Yin Yoga, and Vedic Thai Yoga.

Bhante Sujatha

Bhante is singularly focused on adding more love to the world. He teaches loving-kindness meditation to people around the globe for all those seeking the art of happiness and contentment. At TBY, Bhante Sujatha leads special events and assists with Yoga Teacher Training.

Bhante Assaji

Bhante Assaji became an ordained monk in 2002 at the age of 10 in Sri Lanka. He is now an esteemed monastic at Blue Lotus Buddhist Temple in Woodstock, IL. Prior to his arrival in the United States in 2018, he was a teacher in his monastery in Sri Lanka. At TBY, Bhante Assaji leads special events, including workshops on Sanskrit and meditation.
