Yoga is far greater than another fitness modality; it is an art of living that requires care and patience. Yoga is the revealing of oneself to oneself. In 2007, after taking my first yoga class at Moksha Yoga Center in Chicago, I felt awakened, and after attending further classes, I began a 200-hour level teacher training with Daren Friesen in order to enrich my understanding and knowledge of the practice/lifestyle.
Working full time as a medical-surgical and rehabilitation registered nurse, the yogic path provided both stress relief and a sense of balance.
I enjoy working with people and empowering them to reach and maintain optimal health. After over five years as a stay-at-home parent, I have returned to teaching.
I have found inspiration in my teaching from workshops with Kino MacGregor, Lino Miele, Gary Kraftsow, Seane Corn, Maty Ezraty, Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor and week-long teacher trainings with Gabriel Halpern, Tias Little, and Aadil Palkhivala.
I appreciate many different styles of yoga, and when teaching, I aim to connect with students and meet their individual needs. Yoga really is for everyone—you only truly need a brain, heart, and lungs to practice. I employ a hands-on approach in the way of offering adjustments for safety and alignment or to release tension.
My personal practice goal is meditation, breathwork, and postures daily, even when I feel super crumby—because that’s when it really counts. My home practice informs me to stay aware of personal strengths and areas for growth as I strive to be a better human being and contribute to my community.
